Arctio South represents one of Tornio’s emerging industrial zones, positioned close to key transport corridors and the Swedish border and immediately adjacent to Outokumpu’s stainless steel mill — one of Europe’s most significant industrial sites. The area provides a strong foundation for heavy-industry expansion, energy-intensive processes, and cross-border collaboration within the Bothnian Arc. With excellent road connections and direct proximity to large-scale existing industrial operations, the zone is exceptionally well-suited for hydrogen offtake, new electrified industry, and Power-to-X opportunities.

For hydrogen-sector investors, Arctio South offers a strategic location for scalable projects that benefit from direct integration potential with a major stainless steel producer and broader regional industrial synergies. Its cross-border accessibility and expanding infrastructure make it a natural hub for Nordic–EU value chains, export-oriented manufacturing, and future low-carbon production ecosystems.

Industry news

Join us in Sea-Lapland for high-level event aimed at accelerating hydrogen economy investments and building a coordinated regional ecosystem. Sea-Lapland is entering a new phase of hydrogen and P2X development, with major industrial players, municipalities and infrastructure operators working together to build a coordinated ecosystem. This event offers direct access to the people shaping that process and the information needed for future investment decisions. Please list your areas of interest for the afternoon Meet & Greet session when registering, so we can tailor the discussions to your needs. As soon as the agenda is finalised, we will share it with all participants. At this stage, please note that the departure from Oulu for the site visit is at 7:30, in front of the famous Toripoliisi statue. The return to Oulu will be no later than around 16:30.
